Working within the Financial Accounting and Control Team, this role is part of a team responsible for the accounting and reporting of Inventory and Device Margin for Tesco Mobile. This role will liaise directly with Logistics, Merchandising, shareholders and the wider business, taking responsibility for the accounting for inventory, shrinkage and returns costs.

About the team
A team responsible for leading the month end accounting and reporting process for inventory, including reconciliation of the various stock accounts, the preparation and uploading of accounting journals, production of reports and the articulation of results to management.

Your role
-Ownership of the analysis and reporting of shrinkage, designing new and insightful reporting and working with the wider business to help shape new processes to minimise these costs. Representing the team on a high profile shrinkage improvement programme, ensuring financial reporting requirements are understood and implemented and the steering group are appropriately informed of progress.
-Full responsibility for the analysis and reporting of inventory returns, partnering with the Reverse Logistics Team to design new operational KPI reporting and providing clear and informative analysis on the financial impact of customer returns stock. Working closely with the Asset Recovery Manager to ensure that supplier returns funding is accurately reported and efficiently recovered.
-Approving and forecasting monthly stock purchases, liaising with the Stock Accounts Payable, Merchandising and Commercial Finance teams to ensure appropriate governance processes are followed and invoice variances are accurately accounted for.

Responsibilities
-Ownership of the budgeting and forecasting cycles for shrinkage and returns costs, providing key insight on trends and cost drivers to the Head of Financial Planning and ensuring month end variances are appropriately explained and reflected in short term forecasts.
-Representing the team on new business projects relating to inventory, providing guidance on the impact of new ideas to finance processes and working with the project teams and other stakeholders to ensure Finance requirements are understood and the relevant changes are implemented.

Demonstrable Experience
-Ability to translate operational processes and system transactions in to accounting and vice versa
