The Energy Systems Catapult is one of a network of elite technology and innovation centres set up by Innovate UK. The Catapult works with companies that are focused on exploiting the opportunities created by the need to transform global energy systems; not only playing a part in accelerating technology based solutions, but also engaging with Government to address the market mechanisms and business models that will be required to enable such solutions.

The Energy Systems Catapult will create a critical mass for business and research innovation, focusing on electricity, heat and combustible gases. This centre will be an important part of the UK’s innovation system, making a major long-term contribution to UK economic growth.

Working from within the Finance Team, the Finance Administrator will be a pivotal part of the team, running the daily finance effectively.

Key Work Activities

•    To ensure all finance processes, and procedures are carried out to a high standard.
•    To manage the Purchase Order process with internal customers ensuring the correct process is followed from request to authorisation.
•    Record and match invoices to purchase orders, ensuring relevant approvals have been obtained.
•    Input all invoices onto SAGE 200 and generate weekly payment runs.
•    Generate sales invoices, produce aged debtor analyses and assist with any credit control activities.
•    Perform the bank reconciliation and support work on cash management as requested.
•    Manage the staff expenses process; ensure expenses are checked, processed and authorised in accordance with financial policies and VAT rules.
•    Ensure a consistent high level of customer service is delivered to all key stakeholders
•    Support month-end close, including preparing journals for prepayments, accruals and depreciation.
•    To carry out all reasonable tasks as requested by management.
•    Be a team player and support the finance team as and when required
•    Deal with adhoc finance queries

Key Credentials:

•    More than five years of experience of working within the finance industry is essential.
•    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
•    Proficient in the use of SAGE 200.
•    Strong organisational skills, ability to work accurately under pressure and to prioritise own workload.
•    High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•    Strong customer facing skills in face-to-face, email and telephone communications.
•    The ability to build good working relationships with colleagues at all levels
•    Demonstrate discretion, confidentiality and professionalism.
