About the team
This role sits within the Network Finance team which is responsible for operational and capital investment decision making within a combined budget of £1.1bn. This is a challenging team environment which is driven to improving the return on investment of our network capital and improving the way in which we manage our assets and contracts.
Your role
As the finance leader for CTIL you will have responsibility for managing the joint venture for passive infrastructure with Vodafone. This is an externally facing role and has a broad focus from accounting controls and governance to commercial and contract decision making. This is a critical period for our network development and the role requires a resilient and driven character who can manage challenging external and internal stakeholders concurrently.
Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities:
CTIL Management: The role is responsible for the end to end financial management of the combined joint venture with Vodafone (CTIL). As well as being the owner of financial controls and governance (P&L & balance sheet), the role is focussed on driving the right commercial outcomes for o2 (acquisition, build and decommissioning of sites) through influencing the senior management and CTIL board whilst engaging collaboratively with our internal networks operations team.
Accounting and Audit - The role will have audit responsibilities for CTIL (quarterly) and will need a focus on working controls and management. A broad understanding of complex accounting models and control frameworks is essential.
Stakeholder Management: The role will give access to the CTIL board, the o2 COO, CTO and various senior leaders in finance and operations. Managing consistent and key messages is essential as well as confidence and integrity to challenge key aspects of our approach whilst maintaining trust and nurturing relationships is essential.
Budgeting a planning - The role will be responsible for the development and ongoing budget of the CTIL budget, forecast and long term plan.
Contract/ Bid review - The role will have financial ownership of several major contracts. It is an essential part of the role to be able to identify, summarise and mitigate the key risk drivers in a complex arrangement whilst working closely with Legal, procurement and operations to validate negotiations in a wider context.
Leadership - As a senior member of the network finance team the role will have direct management responsibility as well as wider leadership responsibility. Candidates should have the potential to progress into the WLT/SLT and demonstrate that they can lead through others and be able to demonstrate how they have proactively developed their careers.
Essential Qualifications
-Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA).
-Commercial experience within a large company is desirable
-A strong career trajectory including a promotion within a company is desirable
-A defined leadership style with significant experience with influencing multiple complex stakeholders
-Strong knowledge of financial modelling and forecasting, scenario building and modelling tools and techniques desirable.
-Experience in developing, building and managing complex governance frameworks
-A curious attitude to learning and tenacity to develop skills and attributes is desirable
-Experience in financial planning/ budgeting or technical accounting roles desirable.
-IT literate with a strong focus on Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and Powerpoint.
-Experience in a fast paced environment.
-Broad understanding of the mobile telecommunications industry will be beneficial.
