At Canford Healthcare Ltd, we are a growing provider of high quality nursing and care services for the elderly to the highest standards. Since its inception Canford Healthcare has grown from strength to strength and currently operates ten care homes and one domiciliary care service predominately located in the South East and Greater London.

Job Purpose

To provide financial support to the Finance Director, ensuring the timely and accurate reporting of financial information to a high standard for all Group companies.  Key responsibilities for the role include group wide budgeting and forecasting, developing and improving financial controls and the annual audit as well as the management and development of a team of five staff. 

Job Duties

Management and development of monthly flash and management accounts process

  • Develop timetable for monthly reporting
  • Ensure all monthly reporting meets agreed deadlines
  • Improve processes for monthly management accounts
  • Monthly closedown of all ledgers in Sage 200, and maintenance of consolidated Sage 200 Company. 
  • Development of P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reporting for all companies
  • Support reporting to key stakeholders including Executive Management Team, the Board and funders

Group Annual Budget and reforecasting

  • Develop group wide budget and forecasting model covering P&L, Cash Flow and Balance Sheets
  • Work with FD and Head of Finance to roll out budget model to all homes
  • Reporting Group budget to FD and other managers
  • Developing Group-wide quarterly forecasting

Staff management

  • Management of Account Managers team (4 staff)
  • Management of Purchase Ledger (1 staff)

Accounts Management

  • Supported by the team, reporting monthly results of all care homes
  • Managing and developing regular reporting of group wide KPIs
  • Oversee sales ledgers for all companies
  • Develop robust process for debt collection
  • Oversee purchase ledgers for all companies
  • Ensure WAP purchase ordering processes are adhered to by all parties
  • Ensure control accounts are reconciled for all entities every month
  • Support one home in Accounts Management, improving and developing processes and rolling out best practice to other homes

Annual Audit

  • Develop a strong relationship with external auditors
  • Agree audit timetable with FD and work to ensure this is met
  • Preparation of consolidated and individual entity accounts

Tax

  • Day to day tax and regulatory compliance for the Group

Project Support

  • Support FD on specific projects as required with growth of the business

Other

Based in the Support Office, Poole, Dorset, with occasional travel between sites in the East Sussex/Kent/London and other areas, therefore must have valid UK driving licence. 

Specific Qualifications/ Skills/ Attributes

  • Must be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Proven experience in a high growth large, multi-site company, with responsibility of managing and developing a team 
  • High level experience of reporting including: compiling Group monthly management accounts reports, monthly board reports, audits, as well as budgeting and forecasting
  • Proven experience in developing and improving internal controls
  • Proven experience in the use of financial systems and financial modeling
  • Strong analytical skills and detail orientated
  • Good technical accounting skills
  • Very strong interpersonal skills 
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude together with a competitive and resilient approach
  • Good understanding of the Care Home/Care Industry would be advantageous
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
