Commercial Finance Analyst- Media Background

We’re currently seeking a Commercial Finance Analyst who will support the Commercial Finance Manager in all finance activities related to A+E NETWORKS UK revenue. This includes subscription, advertising and programming sales across the joint ventures channels and EMEA territories. 

The role will be involved in the complete financial cycle for revenue; including monthly results and accruals, forecasts, annual budget and the 5 year strategic plan. 

Analytical and decision support to management and the trading teams is a major part of the role. Providing objective analysis of revenue performance, highlighting key issues, problem areas, quantifying risks and making recommendations. You will assist with the finance review of new business and contract renewals.

This is an important role within the commercial finance team, with significant exposure to all areas of revenue and its life cycle.

This role is based in Hammersmith West London, in our fabulous brand new office space.

Role responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Assist with business partnering and decision support for the commercial trading teams.
  • Support review and analysis of new business cases prepared by commercial trading teams and ensuring appropriate approval.
  • Modelling of affiliate contract renewals, working with the commercial trading teams during the negotiations and processing changes in a timely manner.
  • Assist in post review of investment decisions, lessons learned and recommendations.
  • Liaising with AR team and commercial sales teams, processing month end related transactions.
  • Collate and distribute and the revenue month end reporting pack for stakeholders with commentary and KPI’s.
  • Participate in account management meetings and incorporate outcomes as appropriate into the financials.
  • Support all revenue forecasting and budgeting for subscriber, advertising and programming revenue working closely with the relevant teams and management.
  • Assist in budget development and monitoring.
  • Assist with liaison with both external and internal auditors in relation to all queries to do with company revenue and revenue related costs.
  • Support and adhere to the appropriate control environment.
  • Help utilise and develop available finance systems to streamline and improve current processes.
  • Ad-hoc duties/projects as required.

Person Specification:

  • Qualified accountant with commercial decision making support experience
  • Graduate / graduate calibre
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and their application in practice
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to grasp the ‘big picture’ and express judgement in drawing conclusions and solving problems
  • Strong Excel and modelling skills applied in practise and up to date
  • Highly numerate with demonstrable problem-solving skills to provide accurate, timely and relevant information with added value
  • Effective communication skills (both face to face and written); to present
  • Proven ability to work in a commercial facing area and to partner with the business 
  • Experience of working in the International TV channel and / or format business in a multinational, multicurrency environment
