A fantastic opportunity has come to market to join the Finance team of a well-financed high growth mail order business operating in the public/private sector, with circa 60 employees. We are an entrepreneurial developer of educational resources, products and ideas in tune with our market and in partnership with a web of bespoke suppliers.

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to support the rapid growth of the business.

The Financial Controller opportunity would ideally suit a Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) and would benefit a professional with a proven background in Retail, Mail Order or Manufacturing with knowledge of stock control and ERP systems.

The successful candidate will be required to run all aspects of the day to day operations of the Finance function. This will cover everything from banking and payroll, all general ledger, accounts preparation and tax compliance.  We’re looking for a track record of improving financial control, processes and systems to enable effectiveness and efficiency. 

This role requires an individual with a proactive and flexible outlook and someone who is prepared to roll their sleeves up to ensure the successful running of a commercial finance function.

Reporting into the Financial Director the main responsibilities will include:

  • Managing, motivating and developing the Finance team
  • Ensuring the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management pack and developing flash reports for operational management
  • Developing and maintaining a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Providing clear and concise financial information to Senior Management to support commercial and operational decision
  • Management of daily financial operations
  • Calculating and issuing financial and operating metrics
  • Managing the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculating variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Providing for a system of management cost reports
  • Providing financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Developing and producing KPIs and ability to develop good ROI models
