As the only UK aid and development charity to have shared the Nobel Peace Prize, Mines Advisory Group (MAG) is an energetic, inspiring and forward thinking organisation. Wars and conflicts erupt, subside and end. But they leave behind millions of landmines, unexploded bombs and unsecure arms. These pose an every-day danger for decades and disrupt the lives of communities for generations. At MAG, we believe that whenever and wherever wars happen, ordinary people should not be the ones who pay the price.

We are currently looking for a dynamic Director of Finance to build on our significant achievements to date and help drive the organisation forward at an exciting time. As Director of Finance, you will:

  • Provide oversight and strategic leadership to ensure MAG’s continued and ongoing financial health.
  • Provide corporate oversight of the financial and legal affairs of MAG, ensuring all financial activities are carried out in compliance with statutory, regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Promote and guide commercial awareness, identifying, advising and directing on effective growth paths.
  • Play a significant role as a member of the organisational management team to lead a strong, sustainable and innovative future for MAG.

The successful Director of Finance candidate will demonstrate outstanding leadership skills, with the ability to take a considered and clear view on strategic issues and areas of risk. With significant experience of providing quality strategic financial leadership and experience of collaborative working at a senior management level, they will lead and manage a multi-functional team, including the management of senior managers.  Experience of treasury management, risk management, financial statement preparation and audit process management is essential, as is knowledge and experience of multi-project/contract funding environments.

Some travel will be essential in this role, which could be to a MAG programme, or to meet with donors or other stakeholders – you could be visiting Washington one month, then Vietnam or Lebanon the month after.

This is a demanding but highly rewarding position that will be suited to a highly motivated, solution-focused and commercially astute senior finance manager.  It will offer you the opportunity to use your strategic and leadership skills in a fast-paced environment, supporting MAG’s global life-saving programme of work.

Interview Arrangements: Interviews will be held in MAG HQ in Manchester w/c 24th April 2017.  Reasonable travel expenses for candidates invited to attend for interview will be reimbursed.
