Financial Controller

Based in Watford, Hertfordshire our client is looking for an experienced qualified accountant to join the business as Financial Controller.

This job would suit a qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA), liaising with the outsourced finance function the Financial Controller with take responsibility for all the Management and Statutory reporting as well as budgeting & forecasting and the cash management for the business. In addition to prepare and analyse all financial information to support the Financial Director and Senior Management Team and to facilitate the process of decision making and financial control of the business.

The successful candidate will be a Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACC/CIMA) with at least 2 years' experience in a business facing, commercially focussed, finance controller role. The role would suit someone with strong communication and influencing skills as well as business change experience. A good track record of developing and maintaining relationships with non-financial colleagues and demonstrable success of challenging and influencing business performance is essential.

Job responsibilities:

  • Lead preparation of group statutory financial reporting and other regulatory reporting requirements (i.e. corporation tax, VAT, charity commission)
  • Financial ownership of the P&L and balance sheet for the Group, together with responsibility for all aspects of financial support for the Group.
  • Managing the detailed Budgeting and Reforecast processes for the Group
  • Produce accurate and timely management accounts, liaison with budget holders to ensure accounts reflect actual activity
  • Cash Management through accurate reporting and monitoring of cash flow
  • Providing insightful financial analysis and management reporting to both inform and influence business decision making.
  • Produce investment appraisal and financial models to ensure commercial viability of projects and initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of the business strategy, the formulation of the annual business plan and robust targets.
  • Lead and produce key management reports regularly to evaluate department performance and progress to the strategic objectives.
