Your new company
A very well respected arts and education charity based in Central London (South West of the City) with an annual income of £10m.

Your new role
The purpose of the role is to ensure that the organisation's financial processes and reporting cycle are robust, accurate, meet the needs of the organisation. The post holder will report to the Director of Finance and the post holder is directly responsible for two more junior staff.

Principal Duties

  • Financial Management
  • Production of monthly and quarterly draft management accounts in accordance with the published finance timetable.
  • Production of quarterly budget reforecasts
  • Production of draft annual statutory accounts
  • Active support for annual audit process
  • Preparation and submission of statutory funding claims
  • Providing support to Director of Finance in annual budget setting process
  • Analysis of financial data; report design and publication
  • Development of existing and new accounting software solutions
  • Preparation of quarterly VAT returns
  • Supervision of monthly payroll

Business Partnering

  • Business partnering with budget holders and other internal stakeholders in order to develop the engagement with and understanding of budgets and finance in general.

Systems Development

  • To support the Director of Finance in the development and improvement of all aspects of the finance function, including internal controls and procedures, as well as wider policies and reporting.

People Management

  • To effectively lead, motivate and develop the finance staff team (2 reports)
  • To support staff team with trouble-shooting on technical issues
  • To carry out regular support and management sessions, and annual appraisals with all direct reports


What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will be a very strong communicator with previous staff management within the charity sector. You will be qualified or part qualified at the later stages.
