A high growth and cutting edge Cambridge based business are currently growing rapidly and now need to recruit a Costing & Inventory Manager. This key role will lead and manage a newly created team of Cost Accountants, with responsibility for ensuring accurate and timely inventory valuation throughout the group. Gross margin analysis will form an important part of the role, including providing detailed and insightful analysis for senior management.

The post holder will be based in global headquarters in Cambridge UK, but co-ordinate and manage the activities of a team of Cost Accountants who will be based at local sites including in the US and China. This role will also be key in transitioning Costing activities from legacy systems onto the new Oracle Cloud ERP, ensuring continuity during the move.

The new Costing & Inventory team sits within the Financial Planning & Analysis function, a department that has been rapidly growing and evolving since its inception in 2015. The aim of all the FP&A colleagues is to support the various global business units, providing useful and insightful information to the senior and executives leaders to support and add value through the decision making, financial planning and budget management process.

Roles & responsibilities:

•Effective day-to-day line manage a team of Cost Accountants, based in the UK, US and China
•Analyse and report on Group gross margin performance, including budget and forecast variances and trend analysis
•Ensure that cost accounting is performed accurately and timely, in line with the period end schedules.
•Provide analysis and explanation of budget and forecast variances for inventory and R&D recoveries
•Provide analysis to support the R&D tax credit claim, ensuring that all calculations are compliant with the relevant tax laws
•Provide Group inventory and manufacturing analysis to senior management, including understanding and highlighting the key drivers of cost
•Develop and implement process improvements and ensure that processes are scalable, repeatable, and well documented

The ideal candidate will be CIMA/ACCA qualified with extensive experience running a Costing & Inventory function with previous line management experience. You should have the skills required to create and maintain a complex excel based model including related KPI monitoring and dashboard tools.
