About the Head of Rent and Service Charges role:
The Company is looking for a Head of Rent and Service Charges who will be responsible for overseeing rent and service charge accounting for a portfolio of customers both social and leasehold housing. .
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a full rent and service charge accounting service to the Group within agreed timescales and service levels
- Ownership of all Group Service Charges and Rents
- Manage the setting and application of periodic tenancy rents and secure within policy. Manage and develop the integrity of rent and service charges applications, people, processes and systems ensuring they are robust and fit for purpose
- Establish the following problems solving and decision approach specifically to rent and service charges
- Manage annual rent increases according to timetable for various Group business units via rent restructuring module
- Manage secure rent increases within and rent accounting with Finance Rent Officer on time.
- Manage the annual budget setting process (including affordability reviews with local housing management and company finance) and annual financial statement production for rents and service charges on behalf of housing companies; delivering accurate and timely information to company Finance Directors
- Develop, build, manage and motivate a high performance, customer focused team
- Set performance targets in line with departmental objectives
- Staff management - Annual appraisals, regular 1-2-1 reviews, development plans and staff meetings in accordance with group staff management and development process
- Advise Senior Management on rent policy, service charge and leaseholder management issues with particular regard to legal a regulatory requirements
- Collaboration with and guidance to housing/property management regional staff
- Collaboration with Property Development staff
- Accuracy of account coding and liaison with account allocation team (recoverable service cost invoices)
- Customer account issue resolution
About You:
- Highly committed and able to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Experience of managing external and internal auditors
- Experienced in management
- Experienced in Rent & Service charges in a housing context
- Experienced in managing diverse tasks and activities and managing a complex customer base.
