Human Capital Partners are working exclusively with a high growth, PE backed software company based in Slough to appoint their Financial Controller. The company are leveraging their position as market leaders in their field to achieve growth year on year. The leadership team have a clear mandate to transform the business and there are a number of change programs underway. Central to the success of this transformation is the provision of clear, accurate and timely information on which the leadership team can make informed, commercial decisions. Reporting to the CFO the Financial Controller will be responsible for leading a small yet capable finance team in the delivery of timely and accurate financial reporting and forecasting for the business.
Responsibilities
- Production and initial review of all aspects of financial reporting, including but not limited to:-
- Internal monthly reporting
- Investor pack
- Statutory financial statements
- Cashflow forecasting and active monitoring and management of the cash requirements of the business.
- Weekly 13-week cash forecast
- Monthly longer term cash forecast
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Management of annual budget process
- Production of monthly rest of year forecast
- Proposal review & pricing of software & solutions
- Act as first point of contact for proposal sign off
- Ensure that the proposes commercial arrangements meet profitability and cash objectives
- Foreign trading structure
- Work with CFO to create an appropriate overseas trading structure and monitor associated risks
- Oversee transfer pricing arrangements where appropriate
- Become responsible for local compliance
- Finance Team leadership and development – become business partners. Two direct reports.
- Establish culture of collaboration, communication and constructive engagement with the business
- Empower the team to change and improve processes to drive efficiency and mitigate risk
- Cost monitoring and control measures, including a risk register
- Preparation of the quarterly VAT return, annual HMRC tax compliance returns and other regulatory / external compliance reports.
- Ensuring that IFRS revenue recognition rules are applied appropriately
- Liaison with auditors and tax advisers
- Ownership of monthly working day calendar and team backup plan to ensure holiday/sickness cover for tasks across the Finance department.
- Ensuring adequate segregation of duties across the finance department. Assess and monitor the effectiveness of key internal controls, strengthening where necessary.
- Establishment strong working relationships across the business to ensure proactive, accurate and timely financial decision support and issue resolution.
- Ad hoc project work and financial analysis as required to support the CFO.
Candidates will be ACA or CA qualified with demonstrable PQE gained within SME’s, ideally software or technology businesses. Whilst you will be responsible for a small team the business requires the Financial Controller to be “hands on” and “in the detail”. As the business operates under Private Equity ownership you will be able to deliver regular and ad hoc management information and analysis both timely, concisely and articulately.
