Regional Finance Director

Regional Finance Director - South West

We have an exclusive mandate with a leading UK house-builder / Developer that is looking to appoint a Regional Finance Director (or equivalent) for a commercial finance role based in the South West.

Primary Job Purpose

• Primary responsibility to the Regional Managing Director and Regional Board for all financial, risk and control matters within the region.
• As a key member of the Regional Board, drive the effective financial and workflow performance of the region to deliver against its business targets, in support of the Regional Managing Director.
• Deputise for the Regional Managing Director from time to time as appropriate.
• Ensure the consistent application of group financial policy and procedures as directed by members of Group Finance, in support of group and regional business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor the rolling 5-year Regional Business Plan, including the production of sensitivities and risk analysis, in support of the Regional Managing Director.
• Effectively manage the profit & loss account, balance sheet and cash flow of the region, ensuring the workflow is delivered on schedule, identifying and implementing operational objectives for each Functional team in order to assist the Regional Board to maximise profits and returns in line with regional business targets.
• Prepare and present timely and accurate management information and bespoke financial analysis, including revenue and capital expenditure, annual budgets and business plans (to include appropriate risks and opportunities analysis), monthly profit and cash flow forecasts, etc.
• Ensure effective capital allocation through the robust appraisal of land acquisition, planning and construction decisions against Group benchmark rates and other key criteria
• On-going monitoring and performance management of regional cash flows and returns on capital in line with group targets.
• Ensure an effective system of internal controls is in place and regularly reviewed, including the effective control and proper reporting of build costs (in conjunction with the Construction Director/Commercial Manager) in line with company procedures.
• Ensure adequate and appropriate financial and tax records are maintained for statutory and internal/external audit purposes, in compliance with both Group policies and current legislation.
• Recruitment, development and performance of highly motivated and professional regional finance staff to support the management of regional performance.

• Regional Finance Director and other Directors on the Regional Managing Board.
• SW Regional Finance Manager
• Other Regional Heads of Departments.
• Group Head Office staff, including Group Treasury & Tax and Group Management Accountant.

The role requires significant communication and liaison at different levels across the organisation and it is important that these contacts should be managed effectively and co-operatively, in the interests of both the Region and Group.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

• Degree education or equivalent in relevant subject matter, with a professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).

Knowledge & Experience

• Substantial post-qualification experience in leading a financial function and staff.
