This opportunity with an international business will enable the candidatse to work with experienced senior tax professionals who will help develop their tax skills and knowledge.

A breakdown or the role and requirements as follows:

Compliance

Preparation and submission of allocated UK CT returns to an agreed timetable
Dealing with other aspects of compliance for these entities e.g. preparation of statutory accounts tax notes
Dealing with HMRC enquiries and other correspondence
Managing the UK wide tax position on losses, interest & group tax payments
Managing the UK wide group for claims and elections review
Dealing with the group's CFC compliance, which includes the semi-automated data-gathering process, reporting to HMRC and following up issues, along with recommending changes required to the group structure to minimise risks if deemed appropriate
Managing the group's exposures to UK and overseas withholding taxes and ensuring appropriate treaty clearances are in place
Monitoring existing UK treaty clearances and ensuring these clearances are renewed timeously
Completion and filing of quarterly UK withholding tax returns

Regularised and ad-hoc project support:


Advising on the regular repatriation of a number of sizeable dividends from various jurisdictions
Requires the ability to work in and manage a multi-disciplinary team (tax, legal, accounting, treasury and company secretarial) and with the relevant external advisory community
Significant project management skills are required, along with the attention to detail, as a number of dividends are brought up through long multi-jurisdictional holding structures
Assisting with aspects of UK and international planning projects, as required. This may cover areas such as recapitalisations, capital reductions, capital reorganisations, mergers, transfer pricing, reviewing hedging positions and dealing with other treasury tax matters
Regular first point of contact with selected overseas business units and tax advisers on both planning and compliance issues, including tax audits
Extract and interpret data from the group consolidation system, mostly in connection with foreign group companies, for example to assist with the review debt capacity, asset valuations, reserves capacity, capital structure etc
Drafting technical research/briefing papers

Group reporting

Assistance with budget, quarterly and year end US GAAP reporting in connection with allocated UK companies
Assistance with budget, quarterly and year end review of US GAAP overseas tax packs

Key skill sets required:

Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA,CTA) preferably with recent experience of working in a large multinational in-house tax environment
Minimum 5 years post-qualified experience in tax
Good UK tax technical knowledge, including experience of outbound and inbound issues as they relate to multinational groups
Some exposure to tax issues arising in overseas jurisdictions primarily as they relate to repatriations, financing and restructuring
Good recent tax accounting experience for group reporting requirements, whether US GAAP or IFRS.
This includes recent exposure to group consolidation systems, such as Oracle Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) or BusinessObjects Financial Consolidation (BFC), or the equivalent
Exposure to US GAAP tax provisioning an advantage
Strong general IT skills
Ability to work proactively with substantial autonomy, initiative and drive
Strong interpersonal skills, as the role will require a team player both within the tax and wider finance communities. Will need the ability to influence, guide and work productively with other specialist functions
Diligent with exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills
VAT experience & some exposure to US direct tax issues an advantage
