Exsurgo has been exclusively retained by this entrepreneurial business (£50m turnover) who are looking to create a brand new role - Group Accountant.

This position would be ideal for an ACA Qualified with one role in industry. Over the longer term, this role offers significant scope for personal development including growth into a Financial Controller or Operational role.

The role is based in central London.

 

The role

The key objectives for the Group Accountant will be:
• To be the "go to" authority on accounting issues and technical questions from the accounts team
• To manage the day to day accounting and reporting requirements of the business (7 reporting entities)
• To grow the value-add of the accounts team by improving processes, ways of working and analytical insights

Key responsibilities:

• Oversight of monthly management accounts production by accounts team
• Review, consolidation and sign off of monthly accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
• Oversight of cash flow management and cash postings by accounts team
• Review and consolidation of cash flow forecasts and management of group cash pool
• Oversight of invoicing financing management including invoice uploads and monthly reconciliations
• Checking and approval of weekly payruns and payrolls (both internal and contractors)
• Leading the delivery of the annual audit in a timely and efficient manner in line with 180 days covenant requirements
• Management of quarterly covenant reporting and compliance with covenants
• Management of VAT compliance and timely delivery of returns
• Acting as finance lead for any regulatory changes e.g. IR35, Apprenticeship Levy etc
• Ad hoc handling of requests for information / analysis from the senior management team

 

The candidate

A well-organised self-starter able to communicate professionally at all levels who is not afraid to roll their sleeves up to get stuck into the detail.

They will be technically very strong with a current knowledge of accounting standards including FRS102.

They will have experience of mentoring and up-skilling a team, particularly in analytical skills and value-adding finance activities.

They will have a natural instinct for continuous improvement or problem solving and will enjoy working in a dynamic environment where priorities are changing constantly and pragmatism is key.

A good understand of tax is desirable.
