Management Accountant - Permanent - Shepton Mallet - £25,000 - £35,000
(Opportunity to work from home two days per week)

We currently have a full-time permanent vacancy as a Management Accountant in our Financial Services team in Shepton Mallet. We are keen to attract candidates that want to build a career in a commercial, profit focused organisation where the support functions are seen as true business partners.
Financial Services is a part of Capita Local Government based at the Shared Services Centre in Somerset.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the production of annual budgets for our clients.

Produce monthly monitoring reports, meet with budget managers, help to produce accurate forecasts and challenge where necessary.

Assist in the presentation of management accounts at monthly client / management meetings.

Management of own workload, and prioritising work to ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements.

Assist in the closing down of the revenue account for the Council, ensuring all relevant accruals, journals and recharges are posted.

Liaise with auditors as required.

Provide variance analysis for actual to budget, identify added-value reporting opportunities for trend analysis and commentary to assist forecasting and budgeting requirements.

Assist the client in various projects, producing management accounts.

Work with all departments and the management team to help make financial decisions.

Completion of grant returns, within deadlines.

Support the client on financial aspects and provide training when required.

Assisting in the preparation of the annual financial accounts as required in the closedown plan.

Providing assistance to the Admin Team as and when required.

Essential Experience/Skills

AAT qualified
-
Experience in budget setting and reporting
Experience in production and presentation of management accounts -
Technically competent
-
MS Office suite, including knowledge of Excel to at least intermediate level

Experience in ERP financial systems.
Can-do attitude and approach. -
Work effectively within a team
Desired Experience/Skills

Local Government experience

Implementation of financial systems.

Experience in spreadsheet modelling and manipulation

Experience of Agresso financial system including the Planner module
