Forecasting & Planning Manager - Edinburgh

Salary: Circa £45,000 - £55,000 + Excellent Benefits / Bonus

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Forecasting & Planning Manager with an understanding of mortgages and financial services to join a leading financial services business in Edinburgh on a permanent basis.

In this role you will responsible for the generation and monitoring of Mortgages forecast, planning and analysis to deliver the sales, lending, income, risk profile & P&L plan in annual and 5 year forecasting exercises.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing Mortgages Strategy, providing specialist knowledge, insightful analysis, information and guidance to the business for the delivery of the mortgage business strategy, influencing the development of product propositions credit policy and operational processes.
  • Contributing to the delivery of the P&L and delivery of Sales, Retention, Income, Costs & Contribution lines. In particular, deliver the income targets set out in the business plan.
  • Ownership of market intelligence and forecasting; translating into an overall market share potential by market segments.
  • Development, implementation and management of product planning and analysis capabilities & tools for the market and the business's plan. Owning the commercial team's model creation and management.
  • Establishing a deep understanding of profitability and profit pools (e.g. back book retention, channel, segment, risk profile, loan size, identify threats and opportunities by risk & importance to P&L, translating this into actionable insight
  • Responsible for the detailed mortgage lending volume targets for new & existing customers (retention & further advances) by market segments, risk segments & channels and sales team. .
  • Collating all non-volume related inputs for reforecast cycles (hits, accept rate, conversion, acquisition costs, margin),.
  • Responsible for delivering reforecasts that operate within all risk appetite limits.
  • Responsible for the commercial inputs on customer retention at product cessation and forecasting attrition, retention & SVR.
  • Support the creation of behavioural life forecasts for the finance model.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of performance reporting (Daily, Weekly & Monthly) for volume and P&L commitments, including customer numbers, balances, business mix, income, costs, profit and product performance.
  • Supporting the wider planning activity, including QxF, Budget, Stress Test and adhoc forecasting.
  • Conveying technical information in simple, high quality documents to senior stakeholders. Ensuring risks, opportunities and confidence levels are understood.
  • Providing feedback, where required, on new product proposals, forecasting and planning assumptions.
  • Supporting the business in commercial management, development and delivery of new products that meet the customer needs and deliver the sales, retention and P&L objectives.
  • Undertaking conduct, operational & regulatory risk management as key responsibility, identifying, specific risks, and driving appropriate customer outcomes.

 


Skills, knowledge and experience

 

 

 

  • Extensive experience in financial services within product based knowledge/commercial management, risk management, management information or customer analysis. Established knowledge and understanding of retail credit products.
  • Knowledge of financial environment with high quality analytical skills & excellent numeracy skills

 

 

  • Educated to degree level at minimum level 2:1 or relevant professional qualification.
  • Demonstrate an ability to think and reason logically.
  • Sales focused, results driven individual.
  • Commercial acumen, with strong financial & return / value creation understanding.
  • Proven track record history of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team.
  • Well organised and able to prioritise multiple pressing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • An innovative, creative approach to problem solving.
  • Customer focused, with an ability to take on board customer needs and build compelling & profitable customer propositions.
  • Fantastic relationship management skills with an ability to challenge and drive high performance from stakeholders.
  • Excellent written communication along with well developed report writing skills
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with anyone in any environment, e.g. able to translate complex / technical issues to meet the audience's competency level
  • Preferable to have experience of leading / managing a team
