Purpose:

A highly visabel opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to provide accounting support to the Finance Manager within the Finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

Support in creation and application of financial control processes:

  • Ownership of the Business spend request system/ process;
    • Acting as the key Finance contact for queries/ issues around the system
    • Acting as the default Finance recipient (includes reviewing all requests submitted by the business, ensuring relevant back-up is attached)
    • Following up with approvers of spend where action is outstanding
    • Obtaining/ creating reports in the system to calculate cost accruals (to be reviewed by Finance Manager).
    • Reviewing vendor creation forms submitted by the business to ensure details are correct and complete before sending to FM for approval/SAP data team for processing
    • Ownership of the Accounts Payable (AP)/ invoicing process;
      • Ensuring all invoices are approved (by Finance and Business) in a timely manner to prevent any late/ urgent payments being made/ requested.
      • Working with Group AP to identify any beneficial reporting (from SAP) in order to assist in identifying any issues/ potential issues
      • Ensuring no duplicate invoices are processed by matching invoice to PO before approving within the system
      • Monitoring invoices without PO references and flagging this in a report to Finance Manager
      • Reviewing all invoices over the threshold limit to ensure all back-up is in place and end-to-end process has been followed by the PO requester, before forwarding on to Finance team for final approval.
      • Providing weekly update on AP status to team leads, highlighting any potential issues and measures taken to resolve current issues
      • Ownership of the Accounts Receivable (AR) process;
        • Working with the Group AR and internal teams to ensure all debt is paid on time/ action is taken to chase outstanding debt
        • Review of the weekly update report provided by Group AR, flagging any delays in payments/ action plans
        • Monitoring bank statement to ensure payments received are allocated against invoices correctly
        • Preparation of monthly invoicing files across multiple revenue streams
        • Delivering of invoices to our partners, responding to ad hoc queries where necessary.

 

Financial Reporting:

  • Assisting with the completion of the Financial reporting pack submitted to Professional Services Division
  • Expenses reporting; includes creating dashboards, measuring compliance to policies/ contractual terms, allocating expenses to budget holders and the reporting of accruals
  • Cash flow reporting; includes working with the Finance Manager to forecast our future cash flow position and report this to group.

Revenue Monitoring:

  • Periodic preparation of the Revenue Masterfile, analysing performance of against budgets and working with Finance Manager to produce full year forecasts
  • Reporting of the current and forecasted revenue position to our internal and external stakeholders
  • Producing outputs to assist the MI team in preparation of their monthly reporting pack to the leadership team
  • Updating revenue trackers across product lines to review expected invoicing items

 

Strong involvement in the Monthly Finance Cycle:

  • Key contribution to ensuring financial projections are fully validated and understood within the finance and leadership team
  • Complete and timely reconciliation of Balance Sheet - to be reviewed with Finance Manager before ledger close.
  • Categorising SAP ledger entries to enable current level of reporting
  • Ensuring costs are booked to correct ledger accounts and cost centres
  • Attending the monthly finance reviews held with team leads, taking note of actions raised and circulating these to attendees, chasing up on outstanding actions

Knowledge / Qualification Profile

  • Studying towards an ACCA/ CIMA/ ACA qualification
  • IT literate with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
