Our client provides rapid-response housing repairs, maintenance and improvement services and ensures that their homes are safe and maintained to high standards.

They are looking for a Finance Director to provide senior financial support to the Executive Director of their Property division, Property budget holders and the Group Finance team in respect of the operations of the Property division.

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial and management accounting service to support the achievement of effective financial control and improve current and future financial performance. You will also undertake detailed analyses of the functional operations, investigate issues and carry out costing evaluation of business cases and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a full range of finance support to the Executive Director, direct reports and the Property Board.
  • As a member of the Property Management Team, jointly lead the delivery of its operating plan objectives and take a leading role in developing a strong culture of financial management and control.
  • Develop the use of the finance systems to deliver an efficient and effective service to internal and external customers, working with Group Finance and IT colleagues to align with business systems.
  • Ensure rigour in the accounting, reporting and budgeting/forecasting processes and provide information for the financial statements.
  • Ensure strong financial control and that reconciliations and related financial controls are robust, accurate and timely.
  • Manage transaction processing.
  • Lead the budget setting cycle to assist managers to identify, achieve and report on value for money and efficiency savings.
  • Develop reporting and KPIs with managers and senior Group Finance colleagues to monitor performance and make improvements. Analyse, investigate and report on variances from budget.
  • Undertake long range financial planning for the Property division, working with Financial Planning & Analysis to develop financial plans and financial models, undertake scenario analysis and model acquisitions and joint ventures and business proposals.
  • Provide support on projects to deliver continuous improvement in the delivery of financial and management accounting


Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience working as a qualified accountant in a business-facing, senior finance role in a complex organisation with large expenditure/project budgets.
  • Proven experience of preparing management accounts and linking financial performance to management information.
  • Experience of reviewing and analysing financial information and reporting on results.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to understand the wider picture and to prioritise and manage a varied workload and projects to meet agreed deadlines.
  • The ability to understand business operations and the related drivers and risks.
  • Experience of financial modelling and planning.
  • Able to challenge, engage, influence and add value at a senior operational level and within the wider senior finance team.
  • Excellent oral and written communications and the ability to present effectively to all levels.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Able to demonstrate business Behaviour competencies.
  • Able to demonstrate business Leadership and Management Standard.
