About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the finance team in an innovative and fast growing part of Capita PLC. This role is pivotal in providing business partnering to programme directors and overall responsibility for Client Profit and Loss and Balance Sheets.

Please note that we can base this role out of either our Reigate or Ruddington offices.

Responsibilities will include:


Monthly Reporting and Financial Control

  • Timely closure on a monthly basis in accordance with policies and processes, ensuring best practice financial controls are in place and operating effectively
  • Ensuring appropriate revenue recognition is applied
  • Effective control over WIP balances, taking proactive steps to achieve reduction
  • Review of monthly financial reporting for the Client
  • Provision of monthly cash collection forecast and optimising working capital
  • Providing independent validation of program financial assumptions
  • Providing financial governance; ensuring costs are charged only as appropriate, monitoring the cost streams against plan and assisting in driving costs down

 

Monthly Invoicing

  • Reviewing and advising on improvements to the Programme's processes for invoice checking of supplier and subcontractor invoices to ensure payments are correct and in accordance with the contract
  • Monitoring and reporting on effectiveness of the invoice production processes and cash collection

 

Forecasting and Analysis

  • Attendance at Project Reviews, ensuring all issues are captured and actioned
  • Reviewing the monthly forecast with the Finance Manager & Programme Director, providing commentary towards all actual v forecast variances
  • Providing full contract financial positions to the Finance Manager, Programme Director and Business
  • Tracking, forecasting and taking proactive steps to reduce working capital for the programme
  • Assessing programme risks and working with the Finance Manager, Programme Director, Project Managers and the Finance Analyst to mitigate these improvements to the financial results and forecasts

 

Change Control / New Business

  • Reviewing the Change Control Register from a finance perspective, ensuring change notes are captured appropriately in forecasts and that any work at risk is being adequately monitored and controlled
  • Working closely with the Change Team to drive improvement in the process

 

Programme Development

  • Business Partnering the Programme Director to support long term Programme initiatives and developments
  • Advising on potential improvements to the financial results and forecasts
  • Working with the Finance Manager, Programme Director, Client Director and Commercial lead to maximise the performance of the contract and for Capita, and to advise on the consequences of decisions before they are made

 

Your experience will include:

  • Part Qualified / Finalist stage Accountant (CIMA, ACCA)
  • Good knowledge of SAP
  • Exposure to Project-based accounting
  • A proactive approach towards seeking out and achieving financial performance
  • Ability to interact internally across a variety of functions, commercial, resourcing, HR, business development
