Athwal Resourcing is looking for an exceptional German speaking operational Finance Controller to work for a Global business that operate in the engineering and manufacturing sector based in Großmehring north of Munich. The role reports to the European Finance Director and is a hands-on, proactive role and responsible for all aspects of day to day accounting to statutory level, as well as liaising with senior leadership, employees, external customers and visitors on an operational level.
Responsibilities include:
- Financial Control - responsible for the control and reporting of the German site, maintaining robust and timely financial reporting, prepare and analyse monthly accounts including Balance Sheet controls accounts and the preparation of Board Reports and Dashboard of KPIs for review by the Director and Group;
- Day to day operational - ensure the smooth running of the day to day accounting, ensuring all customers are invoices correctly and monies are received to terms and ensure any supplier payments are made to agreed terms and investigate and resolve queries;
- Budgeting and Planning - involved in the preparation of budgets and period forecasts;
- Cashflow - preparation of cash flow forecasts and cash spend analysis;
- Statutory Reporting and Tax - liaising with external auditors and tax authorities to ensure adherence to all regulations for reporting;
- Group Initiatives - work closely with management and Group to establish sound and robust accounting systems and processes for the German site, manage multi-sites, consolidate and merge existing sites into single set of accounts;
- IT Implementation - work with management and staff to install Oracle into the site, ensuring Oracle is set up properly to account for reporting requirements to authorities;
- Operational Excellence - in the heart of the business you will be assisting operational managers with decision making processes, working with the stakeholders of the business from non-finance personnel to directors;
- Managing Multi-sites - To manage the accounts of the India Sales office, ensuring sound and robust accounting systems and processes;
- Ad hoc projects - striving for continuous improvements, putting forward suggestions to help improve financial systems for financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting and finance control; as well as support and contribute positively to cross functional collaborative team;
The successful candidate:
- Must be qualified in a recognised accountancy qualification;
- A minimum of 3 years Financial Controller experience in German Accounting Practices;
- Worked in a hands-on finance role which has been part of a larger group, knowledge of manufacturing is essential:
- Must be fluent in German and English;
- ERP system experience, Oracle preferred, but can be trained
- MS Excel skills (e.g. V-Look up, data merges and filter experience);
- Have a high attention to detail and ability to work to accurate & tight deadlines;
- Prioritise and work well under pressure, whilst ensuring accuracy and attention to detail;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
- Have a strong drive to ensure there is continuous improvement in processes & procedures and getting things done;
- Must be self-motivated and goal oriented;
- Occasional international travel;
- Be able to work and communicate at all levels of the organisation as well as forging excellent relationships with staff, colleagues and customers;
