We have been instructed by highly reputable private school based in North Manchester to recruit for a part time bookkeeper / accountant.

Our client is looking for a dedicated, committed and experienced accountant to join the team and lead the accounting function for the school.

They are looking for a Part Time Bookkeeper/Accountant to work 18 hours per week which can be flexible around other commitments and has no set hours and is dependent on the following duties being completed on a weekly basis.

The school hold a high standard of service and would require for the successful applicant to have the ability to work within strict deadlines when appropriate.

Our client would be looking for candidates who hold either the AAT, ACA or ACCA accounting qualification but would also consider applicants who are qualified by experience.

The duties include:

  • Post bank payments and receipts daily.
  • Reconcile bank accounts weekly and prepare schedule of reconciling items.
  • Prepare schedules of invoices due for payment.
  • To post invoices daily and keep ledgers up to date.
  • Check invoices received agree to purchase orders raised.
  • Review income received and compare to budget.
  • Review expenditure and compare to budget.
  • Liaise with High School and Trustees and ensure recharges are accounted for correctly.
  • Experience of a school environment useful, but not essential.
  • Training will be provided on the school’s systems.
  • Provide updated weekly cash flow forecasts against actuals to show the variances.
  • To provide a summary financial position for the presentation to the governors once a term.
  • Reporting directly to the head/governors with accurate monthly management information.

Key Requirements-

  • The ideal candidate would have experience within a school environment however this is not imperative.
  • 5 GCSEs (A* to C) including maths and English essential. An A level in business studies, maths or economics, a certificate in accounts or bookkeeping, or experience in an accounts department may be helpful.
