Financial Controller

Supporting the Finance Director in the delivery of all statutory reporting for the trust while maintaining the highest standards of financial controls. Ensure that all financial systems used are maintained to accurately keep accounting records and produce timely and meaningful management information.

*Manage and develop the Financial Accounting team
*Manage the preparation of the Financial Statements and the subsequent audit process through to satisfactory completion of the annual audit
*Preparation of monthly VAT returns
*Preparation and submission of regulatory returns required by the EFA
*Assure compliance with internal controls, to include identifying, enhancing and implementing internal control improvements
*Ensure accounting systems are maintained and are set up to deliver timely and meaningful management information
*Ensure key balance sheet accounts are reconciled and follow up any review points from these reconciliations
*Oversight of the AP process to ensure the process runs smoothly and that any queries are dealt with accordingly
*Oversight of the school debtors ensuring that an accurate listing of debtors is maintained and that problem debts are dealt with accordingly
*Work with the Management Accounting team to ensure all capital projects are managed and correctly accounted for
*First stage review and approval of business cases to support capital expenditure
*To manage the treasury function and produce short, medium and long term cash flow forecasts
*Ensure financial policies and procedures remain fit for purpose as the trust grows by monitoring, reviewing and developing them as necessary
*Remain fully appraised of all financial rules and regulations that govern us, actively monitor EFA and DfE guidance and initiatives to ensure the trust remains compliant with regulation and reporting requirements
