The Role:

Head of Financial Accounting

Reporting into the Deputy Director of Finance, the post-holder will be responsible for the accurate and timely production of the Trust’s annual accounts, integrity of the Trust’s Balance Sheet and internal systems (Oracle) that are relied upon in the production of the monthly management accounts. In addition the post holder will:

  • Take overall managerial responsibility for the financial accounting team comprising:
  • Treasury Management, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Charitable Funds and VAT management.
  • Drive the exploration of commercial strategies utilising our Foundation Trust freedoms.
  • Be the Trust’s designated systems lead for co-ordinating developments and upgrades and managing the Trust’s shared service SLA’s for systems and payroll. 
  • Support and encourage the continued professional development of the Financial Accounting team.

The Person

  • A technically strong, Qualified Financial Accountant with good engagement/ influencing skills and a desire to make a mark.
  • An abiity to think holistically and see the bigger picture in the delivery of a Financial Accounting function.
  • Proven leadership skills and an ability to develop a team, ensuring each person reaches their full potential.
  • A desire to drive change and improve systems and processes.

To be successful in this pivotal role, you must have a true passion for improving standards of health care and a desire to develop a culture of inclusive and informed decision making across all functions. NHS experience is not essential however you will be a proactive and decisive CCAB qualified accountant, with strong leadership skills gained within a complex environment.
