A market leading Insurance business based in Hove is looking for a strong financial controller for a business critical role. The business is at an exciting phase in its lifecycle having undergone a vast amount of change in recent years. To support and facilitate this change, the business is now looking to strengthen its senior management team by recruiting a high calibre Financial Controller. Reporting into the Finance Director and working closely with the senior management, you will be tasked with transforming the accounting, reporting and internal controls, providing business critical MI enabling business decision making.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Building a "best in class" financial control and accounting function that is both fit for purpose now, and as the business continues to rapidly expand
  • Proactive management, development and ongoing motivation of the team, ensuring appropriate structures are in place to service the business, maintain tight controls, drive continuous improvement, best practice, efficiency and career development
  • Review all finance expense and MI ensuring that it provides significant value add
  • Managing all statutory, financial and management reporting, to agreed deadlines and with full analysis and insight, and ensure that all financial controls are maintained at the highest levels
  • Full accountability for ensuring robust corporate governance and that the company complies with all regulatory requirements and developing close working relationships with tax, treasury and legal departments

The successful candidate will be a technically strong and entrepreneurially-minded qualified accountant with a demonstrable track record of working in a fast paced, team oriented environment. A confident and proactive self-starter, you will have exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, and have the credibility and gravitas to challenge and push back. Experience of working within Insurance will be critical to your success in this role.
