Position Specification

The Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will be a member of the the Board, working closely with the shareholders and as an integral part of the executive team.  With the company’s owners focused on long term success, the key challenge for the new CFO will be to ensure the business runs effectively and efficiently and that the financing structure is optimised. 

Specific responsibilities will include:

Financing and Reporting (inc Tax and Treasury)

  • Management of the financial infrastructure and processes for the Group, including systems and reporting including the publishing of both full and half-year results to a demanding timetable
  • Management of the Group’s financing requirements, including developing and maintaining relationships with the Group’s international banking syndicate, bond investors, agency/trustee functions, and credit ratings agencies.
  • Management of the Group’s tax activities
  • Management of all aspects of the Group’s treasury activities, including all corporate finance matters, cash management including cash (dividend) extraction, interest rate and foreign exchange rate management, covenant compliance.

Advisor to the Board

  • Acting as advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors on the financial implications and risks related to key business issues. Working closely with the CEO regarding the ongoing financial condition of the Group and the co-ordination of financial objectives with key strategic goals. Identifying emerging threats and opportunities, and initiating actions to ensure that the Group’s financial condition underpins its ability to achieve its strategic objectives.

Strategic Planning

  • Participating in the strategic planning for the future of the Group with other members of the executive team.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the key operating performance information required to both drive performance and meet regulatory reporting requirements helping to drive a commercial and cost effective culture within the organisation.
     

Operational Focus

  • Demonstrates a strong Track record of continuous improvement, cost management and operational performance improvement and effectiveness.


Candidate Profile 

We are seeking a broadly experienced and well-rounded CFO, with a solid track record and demonstrable commercial acumen. 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be educated to degree level with an accountancy qualification (ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Currently operate, or have previous experience, as a CFO at Board level in a standalone business; or be a step up candidate (a high potential number two or Divisional CFO).
  • Have a track record of creating value through progressive leadership roles within a reputable organisation.
  • Bring high levels of intellect and experience coupled with the character and presence to make an immediate contribution to the business.  
  • Experience of heavy assets/critical delivery assets, including value assessment, prioritisation, strategy and OPEX/CAPEX assessment.  
  • Long range forecasting and planning experience, preferably within an asset intensive environment.
