Group Finance Director

An opportunity has arisen for a Group Finance Director within a well established service sector business based near Gatwick on a Full-Time, Permanent basis. The company requires a hands-on finance professional to lead, direct and manage all aspects of the finance activities in the groups worldwide operations in order to meet the reporting requirements and support the implementation of the overall group strategy

Group Finance Director: Role Overview

• To effectively manage, lead and strengthen the Global Finance Team in accordance with the company's financial goals
• To take over responsibility for all financial aspects of the company's commercial strategies and to advise the Executive Committee on the best path of growth for the business
• To ensure that the commercial strategies are aligned towards the financial objectives of the company and to implement the agreed recommendations in accordance with the company's financial strategy within the Group Finance Team

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted first point of contact for the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee and give advice and recommendations in regards to all financial aspects and form a close working relationship with them
• Provide leadership to the Board's Finance and Accounting strategy, to optimise the company's financial performance and strategic position
• Take overall control of the company's accounting function
• Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers.
• Ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth with the long-term goal of implementing a new Finance ERP system
• Lead by example and develop the Group Finance Team
• Work with senior teams to grow the business, formulating strategies and plans
• Ensure corporate budgeting processes are carried out and reviewed
• Take ultimate responsibility for the company cash management policies
• Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met
• Corporate finance: manage company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity, disposals and acquisitions, as appropriate
• Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties including banks, auditors and advisors
• Work and communicate with Multi Site and Multi Country operations
• Consolidations and Foreign Exchange
• To work in conjunction with the Commercial Senior Management Teams to ensure that Operational and Sales activities as well as the objectives of the Group Finance department are aligned and work in harmonization with all financial objectives.

Essential requirements:

• The successful applicant will be a fully qualified accountant from a recognised body and have a minimum of 10 years Post Qualification Experience, encompassing at least one consistent FD position.
• Must have worked within in one of the following industries at a senior level. Travel, Airlines, Aviation
• Ideally with a background in SME business.
• A forward looking individual with a highly strategic outlook and strong leadership skills, embodying a quality driven approach and a preference for a collaborative approach
• Resilience, with the ability to handle high pressure and meet agreed deadlines
• System Implementation experience would be desirable but not essential
