A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Finance Analyst to join the Advertising Division at dmg media (Mail Newspapers, MailOnline).

Summary of the role:

The purpose of this role is to work with the Senior Finance Manager to provide high quality finance business partnering to the Mail UK Advertising team (who represent MailOnline & Mail Newspapers). This will involve supporting the delivery of stretching revenue targets and enabling informed decision making

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high quality, timely management information. Drive the evolution of the content and automation of management information, ensuring its optimal value and efficiency of production

• Partner with relevant business areas to develop business plans, annual budgets and forecasts; model scenarios, advise on key assumptions and trade-offs and support the alignment of resources to strategic priorities

• Provide analytical support to shape and drive business activity, both day to day and at a strategic level, including supporting the evaluation of commercial opportunities and issues

• Explore and analyse data to extract valuable insights; use insights to influence decisions to enable informed decision making

• Build strong relationships, trust and credibility with relevant stakeholders across the business

• Support the delivery of in-year targets and, where appropriate, the re-allocation of resources through the year

• Help drive the evolution of the content and automation of management information, ensuring its optimal value and efficiency of production

• Work with data source owners and IT teams to ensure that key data is accurate, automated and timely

• Identify and evaluate financial risks and opportunities; identify options to mitigate the risks and exploit the opportunities

• Develop a detailed understanding of key revenue and cost drivers, as well as relevant competitor and industry context

• Lead the way by being a catalyst for change, championing new initiatives and working to fix the root causes of problems

• Develop the financial acumen of budget holders

Key Skills & Experience:

This role will suit an individual looking to develop their career in a commercial finance department with significant exposure to the business.

• Qualified accountant (CIMA or equivalent) with relevant post qualification experience in a commercial finance/ business partnering environment

• High quality analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to review and understand business models and strategies, focus on key issues, and deliver relevant analysis

• Commercial awareness; ability to develop understanding of commercial issues

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form working relationships and gain credibility with staff from different levels and disciplines

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate effectively, concisely and accurately

• Strong Excel skills, working knowledge of PowerPoint, ability to leverage different IT systems

• Good organisational skills, with the ability to successfully balance multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines

• Keen to work in a fast-paced media environment

• Flexible and able to work outside a standard structure and framework

• A team player. Someone who is open and who is able and willing to deliver beyond his or her personal brief.
