A rapidly growing, venture capital backed start-up operating in the technology and pharmaceutical/health sectors (MedTech) is looking to hire a Financial Controller as the business enters an exciting growth phase.
Backed by a very successful venture capitalist, the business has invested heavily in developing disruptive technology that will drive significant growth and we are looking to recruit an ambitious, up and coming accountant to join the business in a broad role as Financial Controller to report directly into the FD and manage a team of 3 part-qualified accountants.
The role will involve working closely with the senior management teams of each of the Group's businesses, providing them with monthly reporting and on-going analysis as well as working closely with the FD to provide accurate & relevant financial advice, support & information to budget managers.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing the finance team on a day to day basis
- Preparing the month end management accounts and board packs
- KPI analysis and commentary of performance against budget
- Profit and loss forecasting
- Management information and KPIs
- Analysis and advice to management team
- Cash flow forecasting, analysis and budgeting
- Financial accounts preparation
- External audit liaison
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintenance of finance procedures manual
- Contribute to improving current processes and systems
The successful candidate will be:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA or equivalent)
- At least one year PQE, ideally in an SME environment
- Strong communication skills essential
- Has initiative and can work with minimum supervision
- Quick to learn and adaptable. A "can do" mind-set
- A self-starter with the ability to work to tight deadlines
- Pro-active, problem solving and results orientated
This would be an ideal role for an ambitious, practice trained accountant with some post-qualification industry experience and the ambition to join a business with strong ethical values and excitement of a rapidly growing SME. The role will be dynamic and all encompassing, offering broad experiences, exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to add value and drive improvements which could provide a valuable stepping stone to an SME FD role.
