My client a Global Multinational Bank are seeking to hire a Financial Controller on a permanent basis.

 The responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of monthly closing of the books
  • Preparation of Board Committee reporting pack on a monthly basis (as applicable)
  • The production of monthly financial highlights with commentaries to group stakeholders
  • Key contact for stakeholders as well as active participation in monthly pre-close/ close meeting.
  • Responsible of monthly Group reporting submissions including submissions to Group External Reporting, Global Business Finance and Regulatory Reporting. 
  • Understand the accounting consequences and related disclosures in the Group reporting environment over proposed transactions affecting the company.
  • Liaise with group tax to assist them in preparation of quarterly and year end corporation tax information.
  • Provide support and assistance on an ad hoc basis to other teams within Group Finance
  • Evaluate and understand the impact of new accounting standards.
  • The production of the annual external reporting disclosures and liaise with external auditors.
  • Ensure that all procedures and deal walkthroughs are up to date.
  • Ensure processes comply with all FIM requirements
  • Management of projects in terms of process or system changes as well as implementation of Global Transformation Initiatives

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monthly and quarterly reporting. Production, analysis and review of the monthly and quarterly results of the company, and preparation of the related returns.
  • Prepare year end external reporting disclosures
  • Be key contact for stakeholders (Capital Planning/ Business Finance/ ALCM, Group Finance, PC)
  • Preparation of Monthly Committee reports.
  • Evaluate the impact of new accounting standards and transactions affecting company
  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly tax computations
  • Work with Capital Planning Head of Group External Reporting
  • Work with financial reporting teams throughout the Group Management Office (Group Consolidation and External Reporting, Group Management Reporting, Group Regulatory Reporting)
  • Be key contact for stakeholders. Pro-active in issue resolution and engaging with other parts of  the group
  • Escalate issues to manager promptly
  • Assist at Offers (hands-on) to other team members where appropriate.

  • Have pro-active approach to process improvement.
  • Continually reassess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
  • Implement the Group Compliance Policy by containing compliance risk in conjunction with the relevant compliance department. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Good knowledge of financial instruments and related accounting principles
  • Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Extensive experience in dealing with multiple stakeholders/ chairing meetings in a complex environment
  • Role relevant qualifications, i.e. University graduate and qualified accountant eg. Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) with minimum of 5 years PQE
  • Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Experience in a similar financial reporting role in a financial institution
  • Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Experience of statutory accounts preparation is desirable but not essential
  • Past working experience on relevant systems, i.e. Saracen (Oracle Smartview) is desirable is desirable but not essential
  • Proven experience of motivating others to deliver exceptional performance and long terms results
  • Proven experience of leading others and creating an environment that supports and inspires people to develop and deliver
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
  • Built effective networks both internally and externally and created opportunities for others to work collaboratively 
  • Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
  • A comprehensive understanding of business finance and management information and an ability to use this information to inform decisions and deliver efficiencies/savings
  • A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes
