Finance Business Partner

My Central Government client is looking for a qualified accountant (or qualified by experience) who can support their existing and committed Finance team at a time of organisational redesign and system changes. This is a maternity cover role, for approx 12 months. The role is ideally based in Peterborough, however offers flexible working and home working opportunities as long as you are available to travel to meetings in Peterborough when needed.

You will work closely and collaborate with Finance colleagues and other business partners and managers from across the organisation to ensure an integrated service covering money, people and outcomes. Therefore, you must demonstrate; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders and Finance colleagues


Key responsibilities:

• Partner and collaborate with colleagues across the organisation,
• Act as the face of Finance, taking finance to the heart of decision making, by bringing together policy and delivery with financial and commercial awareness and analysis.
• As a critical friend to the business, ensuring stewardship of public funds, efficient and effective use of resources
• Help provide Ministers, officials and budget holders with insightful financial analysis to inform decision-making.
• Contribute to the formation and communication of key financial policy matters across the organisation.
• Provide financial support, advice or guidance across the work of the team as necessary (staff resources across Finance are flexible and targeted to meet and respond to the demands placed on the Team to ensure we continue to deliver the high quality service the expected).

Technical/specialist knowledge/qualifications

• Strong technical expertise in financial and/or management accounting
• Experience of using Oracle Financial Systems
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
• Be a Qualified CCAB accountant or highly experienced in financial and management accounting
• Excellent IT skills particularly MS Excel, Word and experience in the use of a modern (preferably Oracle) accounting system.
