Business Control Accountant

Finance is transforming at TNT and as a result we have an exciting opportunity for a commercial and proactive Business Control Accountant to join our evolving team.

Reporting into the Business Controller, you will form an integral part of the Business Control team that plans, analyses and reports the financial and operational performance of the company. This role is key to supporting the transformation of the finance function and will add value to the business by supporting strategic, commercial and operational line management in their understanding of reporting, planning and analytical capabilities.

Business Control Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective Finance Business Partnership support and challenge to relevant function and cost centre owners
  • Provide high quality financial input to business decision making
  • Interpret financial performance of the Business, identifying risks and opportunities
  • Clearly communicate business performance to multiple audiences
  • Drive the successful delivery of new report designs through collaboration with business leaders and business partners
  • Robustly challenge business decision making for your areas of focus.
  • Produce commentary on the movement of costs on all Head Office review packs that demonstrates a thorough understanding of what drives the business (e.g. Monthly Business Review, Forecast and Budget review Packs) and local weekly and monthly reporting.
  • Carry out financial processes in compliance with all relevant legal and fiscal requirements in the country of operation.
  • Ensure that the company has sound financial reporting to support the management of the business for all areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure that all management reporting is to the standard defined by Head Office for all areas of responsibility.
  • Carry out the annual budget and quarterly forecasts using a zero based approach for all areas of responsibility
  • Prepare and co-ordinate consolidated quarterly forecasts and budgets.
  • Significantly contribute to the consolidated quarterly forecast and annual budget process, ensuring the financial and non financial data is accurate and submitted to required deadlines.

Specific Requirements:

  • Experienced in working with management accounting methodology
  • Extensive technical and practical knowledge of Accounting principles, disciplines and standards.
  • Articulate and skilled in analysing business information in complex business situations
  • Experience in reporting and planning platforms
  • Experience of working cross functionally and business partnering techniques.
  • Excellent communicator – clear and concise so that both finance and non-finance people can understand the issues quickly
  • Skilled in managing relationships with key stakeholders at a senior level
