A leading consultancy firm within the Manufacturing & Engineering sector is looking to hire an interim Commercial Finance Manager for an initial period of 3 months.

Working closely with the Financial Controller the Commercial Finance Manager will be involved in project work across the Operational and Commercial parts of the business.

A newly created role, the Commercial Finance Manager will take responsibility for:

Financial Controls and Reporting
Work with the Business Unit to ensure compliance to financial processes and policies
Ensure accurate contract financial reporting in line with month end timetable
Support and challenge the business teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition, margin recognition

WIP and debt reporting
Ensure accurate cost accruals are in place for plant, materials and sub contractors
Attend and contribute to monthly contract reviews with commercial and contract teams
Ensure weekly cost and value reports reconcile to month end contract accounts
Identify and implement process improvements
Work with the Business Unit and Finance team to ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations
Completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations for review with the Divisional Financial Controller
To ensure compliance to Group Standards and Controls

Working Capital Improvement
Work with the commercial and contract teams to drive improvements in working capital through:
- Regular review and management of WIP balances to ensure timely invoicing
- Collection of debt within terms
- Accurate weekly rolling cash forecasting

System Usage / Development
Ensure standardisation of system processes across the business unit, including but not limited to value recognition, sales invoicing, GRN and sub contractor accruals
To facilitate and provide training in the use of ERP systems

Projects
To be the finance lead in business unit projects and initiatives

Audit
To ensure business unit compliance to Group Standards and Controls
Liaise with external and internal audit teams to ensure audit queries are resolved in a timely manner


Essential candidate critera
Must be a qualified accountant : ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS
Must have experience in a similar role
Must have experience of managing financial reporting and controls for engineering framework contracts and projects
Strong excel skills
Ability to communicate and build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally.
Highly numeric/strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Personally driven with the ability to prioritise
Ability to drive and embrace change.
