* The role sits within the occupier finance team and a background in this area is key. *
The team acts for occupier clients across EMEA and is a market leader in structured portfolio transactions having executed over €10bn in sale and leasebacks and €2bn in lease liability transfers, along with strategic acquisitions or lease / portfolio restructuring.
The team also provides consultancy services to occupier clients. This includes corporate finance advice, M&A support and corporate real estate strategy.
We operate at the interface between real estate and finance. The team comprises a mix of skills including property, finance, accounting and financial modelling.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team which is expanding fast. The successful candidate will be a real estate finance professional with the ability to deliver projects either individually or within a wider project team environment.
To contribute to the overall success of a project and support senior team members by delivering work that is efficient, effective, of a high quality and completed within the agreed timescales.
Responsibilities:
- Working either as a part of a team or individually to deliver both consultancy projects and executing transactional business. For major transactions (typically portfolio sale & leasebacks or leasehold liability transfers), supporting a wider project team (comprising a Partner / Associate providing senior level oversight and supporting financial analysts).
- Assisting with the creation of pitches and proposals for target occupiers clients.
- Actively involved in new business generation targeting both existing internal occupier clients and new external clients. Generating business both individually and as a part of a wider pitch team.
- Proactively carry out research and devise proposals relating to:
- Corporate real estate restructuring
- Cost reduction strategies
- Raising capital for redeployment in to the core business
- Management of internal teams to collate due diligence and confirmatory pricing
- Overseeing the production of financial analysis/financial modelling to advise clients on transactional and consultancy mandates. Interrogating the analysis and ensuring impacts are aligned to the clients overall objectives
- Assisting with the development of proposals and transaction scoping reports to senior client stakeholders (Finance Directors, Group Treasurers, or Property Directors etc.)
- Producing relevant research and 'thought leadership' publications
Skills & Personal Qualities:
Skills
- Experience in real estate corporate finance - mix of property and finance skills required. Either real estate or finance qualifications.
- Understanding of financial statements and the ability to interpret and use the information effectively (i.e. impact of real estate on an occupier's accounts)
- Understanding of how real estate operates (leases, valuation principles, occupational / investment markets) - specific market expertise not required
- Experience in dealing with occupier clients (who may have a real estate or finance background)
- Advanced Excel skills helpful but not essential
- Good working knowledge of PowerPoint
- High level of analytical ability - accuracy and attention to detail essential
- Strong people and project management skills as well as an ability to work in a cross-functional team. Good at managing their own time on multiple projects
- Takes responsibility for delivering high quality work within tight timeframes
- Pro-active in thinking of new and creative ideas / problem-solving
- Ability to prioritise tasks appropriately to meet required deadlines
- Excellent communication skills

Experience
- Experience working in a Real Estate Corporate Finance environment (from either a real estate, accounting or banking background)
- Keen interest / knowledge of the property and financial sectors.
