RattrayParkin are recruiting for an Internal Auditor to join the UK division of a global business based in Nottingham. This is a development role for someone who wants to pursue a career in internal audit.

Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit, you will be part of a small team that is responsible for conducting audit work throughout the Company, evaluating the effectiveness of systems and internal controls. The role is a mixture of financial and operational audits.

  • Carrying out audits of control systems to defined standards and timeframes.
  • Conduct audit closure meetings and agree the findings with the relevant managers.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports, including recommendations to improve standards of control.
  • Adopt a risk based approach, highlighting Company risks and controls required to address them.
  • Undertake appropriate training to gain knowledge in key audit areas.
  • Work as part of a team, providing support and assistance to other staff and managers as required.
  • Assist in the performance of ad hoc reviews and special projects as required by the Board.
  • Provide information and advice on Company policies, systems, procedures and risks as required.
  • Engender effective communication within the Company, to add value and contribute to the achievement of the Company’s objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of the audit programme and reporting standards.

You are also responsible for evaluating the standards of financial, payroll and HR controls operated throughout the Company, ensuring conformance to the requirements of additional international standards.

Additional responsibility for evaluating the standards of contract management, health and safety, environmental, fleet, security, MHE and quality controls operated throughout the Company.

This is a very operational role where you will be required to engage across all areas of the business, build relationships and influence key stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Ideally part-qualified
  • Some experience of audit work
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proven ability to understand and interact within an operational environment.

You may already work in audit but want to be more involved with the business rather than sitting behind a desk. You might also be a part-qualified accountant who would like to develop further into audit but also with operational exposure (dealing with non-finance people and seeing how a business is run).

As the role requires understanding of a number of financial and operational areas, an extensive internal training plan will be developed for the successful candidate.

The role offers a competitive salary, company car and attractive benefits package with a well-supported, ongoing training package.
