My client are a fast growing and established organisation based in South Yorkshire. Due to movement within the team and off the back of growth they want to bring someone into the post of Group Internal Auditor responsible for operations across the business as part of the Finance team.

Through regular interface with the operating businesses and management teams the role will actively assess, report and provide guidance on operational compliance covering all key operational practices, policies, procedures and processes. This involves undertaking comprehensive and rigorous audits and operational reviews making recommendations on changes to working practices and controls, working closely with key stakeholders to improve performance and operational disciplines and mitigate any identified risks or sub-standard practice acting as a catalyst for better decision making and improved business practice across the business. Reporting into the Chief Financial Officer this role will include;

  • Develop and undertake a programme of regular “core” operational compliance checks, audits and risk assessments to ensure businesses and key functions adhere to, and comply with, internal policies, procedures and designated working practices and associated standards
  • Undertake projects, sample checks and quarterly audits and prepare reports that identify areas and causes of non-compliance and inconsistent practice
  • Conduct independent follow-up reviews and site visits to assess and monitor identified areas of risk and agreed management action plans and interventions designed to eliminate areas of non-compliance
  • Undertake data interrogation analysis and reviews to assist in assessing the effectiveness of “core” operational practices and disciplines
  • Actively participate in project groups and work-streams established to re-design and introduce improved management and operational systems

The candidate should have the following;

  • Finance/Audit background in Property or Construction, preferably on the operational side
  • Knowledge of process implementation and monitoring
  • Strong system/process-based critical and analytic skills
  • Excellent communication skills in managing relationships with all stakeholders and colleagues
  • Commercially aware with operational management experience
  • Able to take a lead role on projects and operational reviews
  • Able to manage multiple deadlines and tasks at any one time 

£50,000 - £60,000 plus benefits
