UK Head of Financial Control Surrey/Middlesex borders

Innovative, global consultancy seek a UK Financial Controller to lead and develop a team both within the UK office and remotely to provide a first class General Accounting and Statutory Financial Reporting function with excellent knowledge of UK and US GAAP.

This is a senior management role which is critical to the UK business to ensure the UK is seen as best in class by holding to a strong control environment, developing excellent technical talent and establishing best practice in all systems and processes.

Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the financial accounting and statutory reporting of UK legal entities including compliance with US GAAP for consolidation purposes.
    • Oversees the general accounting function, which includes inter-company accounting, cash management/reconciliation, financial reporting, balance sheet management and maintaining a strong SOX compliant control environment.
    • Accountable for ensuring that policies and internal controls are in place.
    • Work with internal and external audits being responsible for the implementation of agreed recommendations
    • Lead for technical accounting under local and US GAAP
    • To embed a culture of continuous improvement in order to achieve efficient and effective processes in order to establish best practice in both systems and processes throughout the UK business. Working closely with the EMEA Director of Accounting & Transformation to assist in establishing standardization across the Organisation.
    • Lead and develop the Financial Accounting team, managing directly and indirectly finance staff in multiple locations (5 associates in the UK & 8 in Bucharest).
    • Working with internal and external tax advisors, in particular for corporate tax, VAT and transfer pricing. Ensure full involvement on any tax planning requirements.
    • Simplify and minimise the UK Corporate Structure.
    • Partner with the Head of FP&A and ensure a close working relationship is maintained with the FP&A team.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience in a similar role, preferably in a US organisation.
  • Ability to deliver under pressure whilst meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain clear lines of communication.
  • Proven ability to identify areas to improve and drive forward efficiencies.
  • Proven technical expertise is essential

Education & Experience

  • Experience managing people with strong, professional communication and written skills
  • Degree educated with strong academics
  • A minimum of five years post qualified finance experience
  • Experience with US GAAP reporting essential
  • Excellent IT skills (including Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
