Role summary
We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join one of our key client engagements, reporting to the Financial Controller. You’ll be predominantly based at our client site in central London, with some travel to our Milton Keynes offices. This is a 12 month contract opportunity with the possibility of a permanent position or extension.
With a team of 2 client reports you'll be managing a large IT programme, working with project teams and senior budget holders, challenging assumptions, providing support for project forecasts, and being responsible for reporting. Partnering with the business, you’ll require excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a varied range of stakeholders both inside and outside of Finance, including Senior Managers. This is a fast moving environment so you’ll need to be adaptable and hard working. This role is looking for someone who is keen to find best practice and challenge the status quo.
What you'll be doing
- Accurate monthly reporting while maintaining a positive working relationship with budget holders.
- Supporting project reviews by providing accurate data and challenging where appropriate.
- Provide financial analysis to support decision making and understand key variances.
- Support the annual budgeting process and audit requests.
- Have a well developed understanding of supplier cost base and any financial implications of the supplier contracts.
- Ensure good financial governance is adhered to, support any process improvement, and identify any opportunities for savings or service improvements.
- Work closely with the client Finance Team to review monthly reports, budgets and any ad-hoc requests.
- Work with other stakeholders including Commercial, Portfolio, Live Services, the Change Team and BAE Systems stakeholders.
- Work within the clients Enterprise Resource Planning tool (Prism) including uploading of forecasts/budgets.
- Support to the Financial Controller and the rest of the team with ad-hoc tasks as required.
What we're looking for
Essential:
- CIMA or ACCA qualified or by experience.
- Project accounting experience.
- Proven IT skills, especially using Excel.
- Good analytical skills and ability to challenge when required.
- Able to forge positive working relationships with peers.
- High level communication skills, attention to detail, and a desire and willingness to learn.
- The ability to be pro-active, flexible, and adaptable.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing, global organisation.
Desired:
- Experience of working within both the public and private sector.
- Previous use of an ERP system, ideally Prism.
