Responsible for the delivery through the new ERP system of excellent financial planning and analysis capability for the organisation, drawing together the streams of planning activity to ensure the organisation has the tools it needs, for the construction period and beyond, to plan for and report on its financial performance; this will include the preparation of annual budgets and in-year performance reporting as well as supporting the longer term planning horizons required for the business plan, the periodic Spending Reviews and the Programme lifecycle; it will also include the provision of high quality.
 
The individual will be responsible to the ERP Finance Lead for leading all aspects of the development project in this functional scope area, will liaise with the delivery partner’s team on the development of the solution, will support the Change Team in the development and delivery of strategies, plans and materials to support the change; will work with the Financial Accounting team and other business teams to ensure that the solution is fit for purpose and understood by those who will operate it; and will support the migration of data to the new system. The holder will liaise closely with the ERP Finance Lead – Financial Accounting and Reporting to ensure a joined up solution which meets all the organisation’s  requirements.

Who we are looking for

  • Strong experience of managing and/or developing a Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) function in a large complex organisation
  • Significant experience of working within an ERP project environment to develop the planning, budgeting and forecasting capability either as an active team member or as a front line business user representative. This is essential for the role.
  • Experience of delivery within a construction, transport or utility organisation in the private or UK public sector
  • Significant exposure in delivering presentations to senior managers to secure business decisions, information or commitment
  • Qualified accountant 
  • Strong working knowledge of modern ERP systems (especially SAP or Oracle) being operated/developed within a complex business environment
  • Demonstrable knowledge of how to operate effectively within a fast-paced project environment with strong knowledge of project planning, progress reporting and document standards
  • Significant knowledge of business planning, budgeting and forecasting techniques and of modern performance reporting in all its forms to each level of management
