“A great mandate in a great business”
Our client is a substantial and growing South West based business, with a strong international dimension. They are a market leader in their field with an enviable reputation for quality and customer service. Impressive recent growth has been driven by a combination of a focused strategy and successfully integrated acquisitions. They are currently seeking to recruit an incisive, commercial, hands-on Group Finance Director to continue to help optimise profitability, cash generation, and operational performance whilst also playing a pivotal role in developing the strategic agenda including assessing and executing future M&A opportunities.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the executive team, leading projects to improve financial performance, driving improvement and development of business processes and providing support to commercial and operational decision making by managers in all areas. This role leads a team responsible for Financial Accounting, Commercial Planning, IT, and H&S and you will need to encourage a proactive approach to problem solving, a culture of continuous improvement, effective prioritisation and a “can do” attitude. You will be an integral part of the strategic planning and decision-making processes surrounding investment and business expansion decisions. A further important part of the role is to interface with investors and the full range of external advisors typically engaged by a publicly quoted company to ensure that all corporate and regulatory responsibilities are discharged appropriately.
You will ensure effective and efficient systems are in place to produce management information, analysis and reports. There is a need to proactively engage management across the business, monitoring key drivers and KPI’s, improving efficiency and protecting/maintaining margin. The remit covers the business planning and budgetary control cycle of the business in addition to the monitoring of performance trends and commercial analysis – it is vital that the Executive Team of this fast moving and developing business are provided with strong controls and robust reporting. Statutory reporting and HMRC compliance will be ensured in an efficient and timely manner.
Technical capability is a given and commercial acumen is the key. Quality is the essential criteria – You are a graduate qualified accountant, with a proven manufacturing sector background in addition to international exposure and experience of M&A. You are proactive and incisive, highly professional with strong gravitas and presence, well versed in managing complex and demanding stakeholders.
