We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Business Partner/Finance Analyst to further the success of the City & Guilds Group by supporting our Group Finance department.

About the Role

An exciting new opportunity has arisen in the Group Finance team. As a Senior Business Partner / Finance Analyst, you will be fully responsible for the provision of business partner support for 2 key business areas in the organisation – Support Services and Central Group Functions. You’ll be leading the construction of detailed budgets, forecasts to ensure appropriate business decisions are taken and will be responsible for accurate and timely reporting whilst also contributing to the monthly close cycle and the year-end accounting close.

We want you to be responsible for the maintenance and development of the Support Services allocation model, ensuring the policies and methodology are developed and improved using input from the business unit as well as the Chief Financial Officer.

Ultimately, you’ll be supporting the Internal Group Reporting Manager and the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis whilst developing the Finance Business Analyst, delegating work if and when needed to build upon their development

About You

We need an excellent multi-tasker who is a natural in building rapport with key stakeholders. You will have expert face-to-face and written communication skills. Even though you will be working in an open and friendly team, you will need to be able to work independently, using your own initiative to make strategic decisions whilst prioritising workloads to meet tight deadlines with impeccable accuracy. Your experience with senior stakeholders will be crucial, being able to support and challenge board members, head of functions and senior managers where appropriate on business case assumptions / financials.

You’ll draw upon your expert knowledge of financial systems (ideally SAP and Hyperion) to improve and assist on our processes contributing to major projects in the pipeline such as headcount reporting and planning to maximise automation. Your advanced skills of Microsoft applications will be put to the test on a day-to-day basis especially Excel to complete IF statements, Waterfall Charts etc. depending on the business needs.

Effectively applying your knowledge of Investment Appraisal and Decision Support Business Partnering will contribute to your success in the role. Being pro-active, whether that is identifying expenditure and savings or interpreting data, generating insights, constructing solutions or effectively delegating work to your direct report will make you a vital member to the team.
