Nuffield Health is Britain’s largest and most pioneering healthcare charity, integrating fitness and well-being, prevention and cure. We’ve brought together our hospitals, clinics, fitness & wellbeing centres as well as our diagnostic units into one holistic healthcare service provided from over 200 locations. A not-for-profit organisation, we reinvest every penny we make into helping the people of Britain to lead healthier, happier lives. In today’s healthcare market, we’re in an enviably strong position.

Situated close to York City Centre, The Nuffield Health York Hospital is a thriving, modern facility with 40 beds, three operating theatres, two with laminar flow, and a growing range of clinical services. We are continually developing our services, consolidating our position as a centre of excellence in the Yorkshire region.

As Deputy Finance Manager you will lead and develop a finance team to deliver a high quality finance service. You will be a Head of Department (“HOD”) within the hospital and work together with other departmental HODs on common projects, implementing the strategy of the Hospital lead by the Senior Management Team.

Your primary responsibility will be the management of the Finance team and the delivery of the hospital accounting function but will also be involved in forecasting, budgeting and business analysis. You will be responsible for the preparation of monthly accounts and balance sheet reconciliations. You will ensure that controls are in place in accordance with Nuffield Health financial governance policies and become the in house expert for finance and administrative system processes and compliance.

You will have excellent inter personal and IT skills and be used to manipulating large volumes of data in excel and using accounting systems. You will also be an inspirational people manager and be able to demonstrate strong persuasive skills.

You will have relevant experience in a similar role and hold an accounting qualification such as ACA,  ACCA or CIMA. You will have a strong understanding of accounting ledgers and double entry book-keeping. You will have experience in managing teams.

We want you to be the best you can be. So we promise to support you with training, career development and our unique health and wellbeing focused benefits package. This includes free membership of your local Fitness and Wellbeing Club, private healthcare and an annual health assessment, as well as a range of lifestyle and financial wellbeing benefits. We want to help you live well and get the balance right in life, so we’ll give you 25 days’ holiday in your first years here - and we’ll reward you with more annual leave for building your career with us.
