Go East Anglia is a public transport organisation encompassing Konectbus, Anglianbus, Hedingham and Chambers. Some eight million passenger journeys are made each year on its services and over 400 people are employed. It is an operating business of Go-Ahead one of the UK's leading providers of passenger transport and a FTSE250 organisation.

Detailed Job Description

The Head of Finance will be based in the office in Dereham Norfolk and will be responsible for:

  • Lead the formulation of the strategic plan, including annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Ensure that the finance function provides accurate and realistic management information and commentary on the performance against agreed criteria, including comprehensive analysis of all risks. 
  • Help the finance function act as a partner to the business, supporting and participating in decision-making to support business strategies.
  • Identification of improvements to be made to financial processes and controls. 
  • The completion and submission of annual statutory accounts and report, the half-yearly report and liaison with internal and external auditors.
  • Lead periodic reviews to ensure good control of costs and assessment of business performance. 
  • Ensure that staff within the finance function are motivated, effectively managed and training needs are identified and addressed.
  • Review of balance sheet reconciliations and cash management.

Candidate's Profile

The successful candidate will be an ACA, CIMA, ACCA qualified finance professional with the ability to communicate at all levels within a larger group.

  • Exceptional communication and team skills. 
  • Demonstrable commercial expertise ideally gained within a customer focused business (i.e. retail, FMCG or leisure).
  • Management of the central finance function of a business - able to ensure the integrity of the financial and commercial information that the business requires. 
  • Financial reporting / forecasting and statutory reporting experience
  • Down-to-earth, a hands-on and non-ostentatious approach 
  • Oracle / TM1 experience an advantage as would knowledge of the bus industry.
