Cambridge, United Kingdom – Our client is a highly regarded, pharmaceutical business based in Cambridge who are seeking to recruit a Senior Financial and Planning Analysis Accountant.

This newly created role will be reporting to the Head of Finance and will play a key role in driving business performance. The role will be responsible for partnering and supporting business functions in financial forecasting and budgeting and will support the business in any analytical projects.
This function aims to provide insights and support optimal business decision making to consistently drive overall performance.

The Senior Financial and Planning Analysis Accountant will proactively provide decision support and analytical advice and data to senior management to ensure the business is performing as effectively and efficiently as possible and will be expected to influence decision making by compiling and delivering presentations to the leadership team to support business case justifications and return on investment. You will be responsible for overseeing and developing the budget planning process in collaboration with the business and budget holders and provide ongoing financial support to management, budget holders, analytical projects and business work streams.

The role will involve enhancing existing reporting processes with a focus on simplification, automation and improved communication and, as a member of the senior finance team, will involve contributing to the development of the business’ financial tactics and delivery of tactics within specific areas; providing regular updates to the Head of Finance throughout. You will work closely with the finance compliance team to reconcile analytical data and will ensure systems and processes within your area of responsibility are working effectively and proactively drive improvements and changes where necessary.

 

To be successful in this role, you will need to be proactive in your approach and be prepared to challenge whilst maintaining the ability to adapt to specific requirements of the business needs. The role will require you to work effectively with other areas of the business and as such, will require you to be able to educate the business in relevant financial topics and be influential at all levels; building strong relationships with team members, managers and senior management alike.

The successful candidate will be qualified (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) and will prior experience within an FP&A/business partnering role. Previous staff management experience is desirable as the role will manage a trainee accountant.
