Reporting Systems Accountant
Based in Watford, Hertfordshire our well regarded retail client is looking for a qualified accountant to join them on a 12 month contract as a Reporting Systems Accountant.
This job would suit an ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified Cognos or similar BI system expert to be responsible for developing the reporting offering across the business. The aim of the position is to eradicate or minimise the exporting to Excel of BI for reporting purposes.
This company is a huge success story and with plans to continue their growth for the next 3-5 years the business is striving to keep its head office functions as advanced as possible hence the need for this individual.
The business uses Cognos BI solutions and has c.80% of the data and reporting in place but this individual will aim to finish the development of the reporting by driving the remaining data and reporting through Cognos.
The successful individual will have excellent BI system skills and will most likely have some financial systems implementation experience. This position is not an Excel based position although it is likely that the successful individual will have a decent knowledge in this area (however a VBA or SQL expert is not needed in this job). Strong communication skills are essential as this person will act as the key communicator acting between the finance team, understanding their requirements, and the BI team, who use the data to create standard reports.
Duties will include:
- Liaise with finance stakeholders to understand business reporting requirements
- Analysis of current reporting set up and gap requirements with current Excel reporting
- Development and administration of Cognos TM1 solutions, BI Reporting
- Address production issues within Cognos TM1, BI environments
- Giving the BI team the support they need in processing and reporting to achieve required results.
