Based in Wilmslow and established in 1995, the company is a growing professional services business employing over 400 people.  The product delivers valuable HR, Employment Law, ISO and Health and Safety services to over 17,000 SME’s across the UK.  

The company has grown rapidly over the past few years and have big ambitions for the future.  As a Private Equity backed business, the plan is to triple the size of the business over the next few years through both organic growth and acquisitions. 

THE ROLE
A pivotal part the Financial Reporting team, preparing the Profit and Loss accounts, Cashflows and Balance Sheets, and supporting the business in their drive for profitable growth.

To prepare all reporting requirements for the business to ensure the delivery of timely and accurate financial information. 

To support all reporting processes, including annual budgeting and forecasting, ongoing flash reporting, Board packs, and bank & investor information.

Financial Controller

MAIN DUTIES

P&L, Cashflow and Balance Sheet
•    Preparation of P&L, Cashflow and Balance Sheet.
•    Preparation of Weekly / Monthly Cash flow forecast.
•    Liaising with various stakeholders both within finance and the wider business to understand and report the full picture.

Monthly Financial Accounts
•    Preparation of monthly accounts, ensuring adherence to reporting timetables.
•    Business analysis & commentary on results.
•    Preparation of Balance Sheet reconciliations / files.
•    Preparation of Cost centre reports for all departmental heads and ability to clearly communicate them with non-finance personnel.
•    Reporting of results (including supplementary information) via the management accounts, monthly board packs and via the investor’s reporting system.
•    Dealing promptly and accurately with queries as they arise.

Technical Reporting and Control Environment
•    Preparation of statutory accounts for all relevant companies, including liaison with external auditors and advisors.
•    Ensure financial integrity of statutory accounts and management accounts, including adherence to UK GAAP (for statutory reporting).
•    Compliance with statutory Corporation Tax, VAT and PAYE requirements, including preparation of:
o    Timely and accurate preparation of Tax / PAYE submissions and payments.
o    Submission of quarterly VAT returns and monthly VAT payments on account.

Budgets & forecasts

Provide support for all budget and forecasting processes, including:
•    Reviewing submissions to ensure robustness.
•    Preparation of relevant management information packs with analysis.

Other ad hoc projects
•    Involvement in implementation of new finance system.
•    Involvement in integration of future acquisitions.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties as assigned by management.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
•    ACA / ACCA qualified. This role would suit a newly qualified, who is seeking a first-time move to industry.
•    Specific industry or service sector experience is desirable, but not required.
•    Must be technically strong and have a good depth of understanding and experience of financial reporting under UK GAAP.
•    Strong attention to detail.
•    Strong excel and modelling skills.
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with people management experience.
•    Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment.
