This specialist contract / consultancy accountancy company are seeking an Accounts Manager on a 3 month basis. This is an immediate need to lead, manage and develop the existing team in the provision of services to the SME market, ensuring that the correct level of service and back office support is provided.
This Accounts Manager position is based in Merseyside/South Manchester. As an Accounts Manager within this consultancy company you will be responsible for:
- Manage the provision of the complete life cycle of accountancy services to the customer base including bookkeeping, VAT, Management Accounts and Statutory Accounts
- Continuously develop and improve the processes and the service offering in order to provide the customer service experience expected
- Control the delivery of workflow ensuring that all internal and external targets and deadlines are met
- Co-ordinate the team in all aspects of the role to ensure that the service provided by the advisors adheres to the operational performance standards for quality and timeliness.
- Understand the current and future capabilities of the team, ensuring the team have the skills and knowledge to carrying out their role effectively, identifying any gaps and training needs and implementing the necessary training to address
- Regularly meet with Team Members via team meetings to ensure that staff are focused on delivering business objectives
- Manage and track punctuality and absenteeism, carry out return to work interviews and escalate to management instances of excessive or long term absence
- Carry out 121's and annual Performance Reviews for all team members in order to set relevant objectives and to provide constructive feedback on past performance
- Carry out capability interviews in line with specified procedures to ensure that the department recruits the right person for the role
- Manage issues of discipline and grievance in conjunction with HR
- Contribute to meetings and provide key reports to relevant Managers on a regular and ad-hoc basis
- Any other duties that are deemed necessary to support the business.
As an Accounts Manager you will need to have the following experience:
- 2 to 3 years' experience of managing a team of accountancy staff
- Experience of working in an Accountancy Practice with exposure to SMEs
- Prior experience of dealing directly with customers communicating with small business owners and providing advice and assistance
- You do not need to be qualified to be considered for this position but you do need the above experience and skill set
