Head of Financial Accounting

An exceptional opportunity with a globally recognised business for a distinguished Finance Professional with strong Financial Accounting expertise. As the Head of Financial Accounting, you will be based in Crawley, West Sussex and you will report directly to the Head of Financial Control, as well as supporting the Head of Financial Control, you will also support the CFO and Senior Leadership team when appropriate. Heading up the Financial Accounting Team, you will be accountable for the financial accounting, financial reporting and tax compliance for the business and its group companies.

As the Head of Financial Accounting, your role will entail, but not limited to:

  • You will lead the planning, co-ordinating and delivery of the statutory reporting process, including the annual statutory process.
  • As well as ensuring the robustness and efficiency of processes, you will guarantee that accounting policies and procedures are developed and implemented in line with IFRS to ensure best practice.
  • You will manage external relationships, working with third party advisors to ensure the business and its group companies are tax compliant.
  • Managing the Financial Accounting Team, you will need to continuously challenge and develop your team. You will also provide technical support and training to your team and when required, to the wider Finance Team.

As the Head of Financial Accounting, you will need to be a Qualified Accountant, ACA or equivalent and practice trained, preferably in a Big 4 firm. It is essential that you have a strong understanding of IFRS and statutory consolidation procedures, as well as experience working with external parties like auditors, etc. As the Head of Financial Accounting it is preferred that you have worked at group level in a FTSE 250 company with a minimum of 3 years post qualified experience. In conjunction with being a highly analytical and technically competent professional, you will need to utilise excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate across the business.
