My Client, a well respected Housing Association, is looking to recruit a Temporary Money Advisor. This contract has arisen due to expansion and will last until at least end of October 2017.

The key purpose of this job will be to maximise revenue and support customers to improve their quality of life & sustain tenancies.

Duties will include:

- Providing comprehensive debt, welfare benefit & utility bill reduce advice to customers & colleagues
- Pro-actively identify & target customers with a view to assisting them to minimise their debt
- Maximising the income of tenants by providing pro-active & re-active welfare benefit, debt and money management advice
- Ensuring targets for income gains are met and individual outputs (such as telephone calls & visits) are maximised
- Carrying out financial assessments & affordability checks for customer's taking up new tenancies to ensure the tenancy is affordable prior to them entering into the agreement
- Assisting customers to complete benefit applications, challenge incorrect benefit decisions, overpayments & apply for backdates where applicable
- Representing customers at benefit appeal hearings
- Promoting Money Advice to colleagues, including delivery group briefing sessions
- Identifying cases that need specialist debt advice and liaising with the Council's Debt Advice team where appropriate
- Liaising & building effective networks with local partners, such as DWP and other Housing Providers
- Keeping up to date with relevant changes to benefit regulations & legislation in order to provide accurate and relevant advice
- Identifying customers who will benefit from a change to their existing water charging method and assist them to facilitate this change

Experience / Qualifications required:

- Proven experience of providing "front line" advice on debt and welfare benefits
- Experience of interviewing people regarding benefit or debt related issues
- Expert level knowledge of welfare benefit legislation & regulations
- In depth knowledge of welfare / housing reforms and the effects of the reforms on social housing tenants
- Ability to manage a demanding caseload, ensuring a consistent approach is taken & that performance targets are met
- Ability to advocate on behalf of claimants, such as benefit tribunal representation

This contract will pay between £12.01 - £14.79 per hour, depending on whether you wish to work PAYE or through a Limited Company. Their working hours are Monday - Friday, 37 hours per week. It is essential that you have a full driving license & use of a car.
