The Opportunity

A technically strong and process-minded Finance Manager/Senior Accountant is currently being sought by an exciting e-commerce business undergoing vigorous growth. The business, which is on the vanguard of their sector, is backed by Private Equity house with a proven record for success, and a clear road map to exit has been plotted to ensure they exit within the next few years. You will be working in close cohesion with a ‘top in class’ Group Financial Controller who has recently joined the business and has made clear tangible impact already; as well as with a well-respected and acclaimed CFO, who will both ensure that you meet and surpass your potential and grow professionally to levels that will give you plenty of other options within the business in time.

The Role

In a fast-paced and challenging role, you will be responsible for the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes, making sure that the numbers are 100% watertight. This process is currently driven by a series highly functional but complicated Excel spreadsheets linking into their current financial system, which is in the process of changing from Epicore to SAP; and you will be required to quickly learn and maintain the spreadsheets to ensure the validity of the numbers. Beyond this, you will be in charge of and proficiently know how to do/maneuver the ledger, intercompany reconciliations, VAT filings, amongst other things. You will also have a chance to get heavily involved in the SAP system implementation, which is currently underway.

The Requirements

To apply for this role you will:

  • Be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with previous audit or statutory accounting experience; either having worked within an accounting practice, before then working in a role in industry, or having learnt how to do the above in an demanding industry setting.
  • Have experience producing financial statements under IFRS and leading a month-end close process. You will have an infallible knowledge of the ins and outs of month-end process – i.e. knowing the difference between a transaction gain and a translation gain etc.
  • You must have excellent excel skills and will be able to understand, manoeuvre, and improve a complicated series of spreadsheets critical to the company’s numbers.
  • Have ideally worked within a Private Equity-backed business, although this is not necessarily a prerequisite. If this is not the case, you will be expected to have had experience working within a fast-paced environment, in which you’ll have worked in a hands-on role, whilst also having had senior exposure.
  • Have an extremely meticulous attention to detail and very strong technical skills, as well as having a self-sufficient, ‘can-do’ attitude to work, enabling you to tackle difficult tasks head-on, without necessarily relying on other senior members of the team to present you with solutions.
